And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
What does it mean to be a seeker?
Being a seeker starts with recognizing that you are on a journey. Even if this sinful world tells you that you’re “going nowhere” you can be on the grandest, ever changing, never boring and most spectacular journey the universe has ever laid before a created being. It can start today and it doesn’t cost a thing, yet in the end or maybe even in the middle, you will discover that you’re willing to give everything you have to stay on this path.
Where do I start?
This journey…this seekers road, starts with a spark of understanding. You will question what you’ve been told. You will desire to know the truth about everything. You will be overwhelmed by a hunger and thirst that needs more than mere food to satiate. You will feel the hunger pangs of eternal life and will thirst for the knowledge and wisdom of the ages. This is the beginning of the road, the way to eternal life. This is how it starts no matter where or when you begin.
This is no physical road, though you may have to lay sole to stone. This is no journey of self, devoid of others and removed from pain. This is a journey you take with Someone else…someone who loves you. Someone who wants to give you His hand and take you down the dusty trail of everlasting life which He has already traveled.
He knows all the pitfalls, the tourists traps, and hiding places of the enemy. He can lead you if you just take His hand. He is Jesus. The One who proved to you once and for all time that He is the only one you should ever trust as your Guide. He is there waiting for you at your destination with open arms and a feast to shame every feast before it. He is not an absentee landlord who hides far away but is also willing to come down and gently hold your hand as you blindly fumble in the dark. He is willing to push and support you as you strain to crest a hill. He is there to pull with all His might as you cling to a rope dangling off a cliff and, if you should fall, He is there to break that fall and save you.
Friend, if you are not already a seeker, start today. Open your bible with a new purpose. Get to know your Guide. Let Him show you The Way, The Truth, and The Life and if you are willing to knock, He will open the door; if you are willing to seek, He will help you find; if you are willing to ask you will receive.
